RTL SportsKlitschkoWALK-IN SHOW
The walk in show of the fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Kubrat Pulev was one of the biggest productions redpinata ever did. And it was the first projection mapping project RTL Sports ever did. It was broadcasted live in more than 100 countries worldwide with nearly 10 million viewers in Germany.
The challenge was huge. Most of the conception of the show, the in house art direction and the coordination of the in house team has been lead by Cedric Stein and myself. I was also heavily involved into the 3D modeling & animation and I did the full compositing as well as most of the vfx on the klitschko part. I also did some 3D Modeling and finishing of the pulev part.

Projection Mapping3D vs. TV
Our idea was to create a fully animated show and use projectors to bring the illusion via projection mapping into the arena. For that the walls of the rooms were rebuild in a bigger scale with blank white walls. Then we project our animation onto the walls. We then matched the position of the tv camera so that the illusion was perfect and the fighters could walk inside our animated rooms.
